Logistics and Railway Transport Technology

First- and second-cycle degree programmes

Students of the Logistics and Railway Transport Technology specialisation develop their knowledge in the field of: transport technology, technology of freight operations, freight flow in logistic systems, transport law, rail vehicles construction, rail transport systems, technology of rail traffic, technology of rail transport (of passengers and freight), rail traffic control, rail telecommunications – in the first-cycle degree programmes and modelling of transport processes, technology and design of freight processes, creation of logistic systems, methods of evaluation of design solutions, organisation and management of the forwarding process, IT systems in transport, maintenance of rail facilities, infrastructure of rail transport, technology and organisation of rail transport – in the second-cycle degree programmes.

Graduates of the specialisation have the skills to take decisions in the area of organisation and design of rail transport systems, logistic systems, technology of rail transport, optimisation and rationalisation of processes and systems of transport and logistic service in the field of rail transport. Graduates of second-cycle study additionally have the skills to solve and verify solutions to problems in the area of organisation and design of logistic systems, freight systems, technology of rail transport, modelling, optimisation and rationalisation of processes and systems of transport and logistic service, especially in the field of rail transport, as well as to do research in the field of development of the systems and subsystems, and rail transport processes and technologies.

The graduates may use their qualifications by finding employment in:

  • rail transport enterprises in departments of freight management and traffic control,
  • large industrial and distribution plants in departments of analysis and organisation of transport and logistic processes carried out with the use of rail transport,
  • forwarding companies,
  • study and design offices,
  • research centres.
